Here in Hawaii it goes without saying that we treasure and care for our Kupuna. We invite you to Part Two of our series where we will share a few ideas to consider when thinking of ways to create a comfortable and safe home.
Ensure a Safe Showering Environment: In addition to grab bars, installing a corner seat in the shower provides another layer of safety. The showerhead should also be upgraded to a handheld showerhead. A wand attachment makes it especially easy to rinse soap from hard-to-reach places. And a non-slip shower mat is one more easy upgrade you can do to keep the shower safe!
Create a Slip-Free Kitchen: Falling is a very real danger for anyone. For our older generations, many of these falls occur in the kitchen, and it’s easy to see why – hazards include heavy pans to carry and unnoticed spills on the floor. Consider installing no-glare, non-slip tile or low-pile carpet to get a kitchen that is safe, easy to maintain and simple to clean.
I hope you’ve enjoyed part two of our Kapuna series. Please stay tuned for updates, and let us know if you need need anything.
